Agreement made the day of Besuch One thousand eight hundred and ninety four Between The Undersigned, One of the Crown Agents for the Colonies, of Downing Street, London in the County of Middlesex acting for and on behalf of The Government of Hong Kong (hereinafter called the Government) of the one part and Commiss Elijahith Veurn ddocke of Plant House, Wanstead, in the County of ... of the other part.

Whereby it is agreed by and between the parties hereto as follows;

The said Amni Elepptill Veurn te hereinafter called the person engaged is hereby selected for appointment as a Nurse in the Government Civil Hospital of Hong Kong upon the following terms and conditions The person engaged shall as soon as required proceed to Hong Kong and on her arrival there will be placed under the orders of the Superintendent of the Hospital and her duties shall include such general duties of a Nurse as are usual in a British Hospital.

The term of engagement shall be for five years but the Government shall have power at any time to terminate it upon giving to the person engaged three months' notice in writing or paying her a sum equal to three months' salary in lieu of such notice and providing her with a free passage home.

The salary to be paid to the person engaged shall be at the rate of Forty dollars ($40) per mensem rising by yearly increments of Ten dollars ($10) per mensem to Sixty dollars ($60) per mensem with furnished quarters, board, and attendance, and uniform. Half salary will commence from date of leaving England and full salary from the date of arrival in the Colony.
